Joint Laboratory
To thoroughly practice the principle of international collaboration that is the Belt-and-Road Initiative as advocated by the Chinese President Xi Jinping while promoting the “Belt-and-Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Action Plan”, China’s Palace Museum and Greece’s Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (IESL-FORTH) jointly applied for the establishment of the China-Greece Belt-and-Road Joint Laboratory on Cultural Heritage Conservation Technology (Joint Laboratory). Supervised by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and recommended by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the application was formally approved in September 2020. The laboratory has attracted 11 member units from both China and Greece to jointly research and develop key technologies and equipment, conduct applied research, commercialise research results and cultivate talents.
