Ceramics of the Qing Dynasty
(1644-1911)

Following the production system of the Ming Dynasty,Jingdezhen kilns(Yao)of the Qing Dynasty were also divided into the officially-sponsored and the local people-run kilns. In the Qing Dynasty, some defects of the Ming Dynasty were weeded out ,and the system in which skilful ceramic artisans were life-bodage employed by the officially-sponsored Yao,abolished, and instead, the common practice of parts of clay"biscuits",which the local government-run kilns could not fulfil and were sent by the government to be fired in the kilns run by the local people in the late Ming Dynasty, was regularly established, thus,a situation in which both the officially-sponsored Yao and the local people-run Yao contended with each other, was formed, stimulating the development of the ceramic industry. Ceramics produced in Jingdezhen in the three reigns of Kangxi(1622--1723),Yongzheng (1723--1736),and Qianlong(1736--1796)of the Qing Dynasty scored great achievements and reached its culmination.

Eehua yao,Shiwan yao,and Yixing yao also followed setting the tradition of the Ming dynasty, and kept developing their ceramic industry in the light of their own distinctive features.
