Ceramics of the Ming dynasty
(1368--1644)

Rapid development of Yao industry in Jingdezhen in the Wing Dynasty made it become the ceramics-making centre of the country as a whole.Yao could be divided into two kinds namely, the officially-owned and the local people-run Yao.

The variety consists mainly of underglazed blue porcelain painted potcelain, and coloured glazed, the objects of distinction of which were handed down from all the preceding reigns of the Dynasty.

In the Ming Dynasty,Dehua Yao started producing white porcelain, with porcelain carving,in particular, bearing high reputation for long.Meanwhile,Yixing Yao and Shiwan Yao produced potteries in imitation of those employing Jun glaze, and the former also made red ware potteries, especially the red ware tea sets which were renowned at the time, and many a master hands in the designing and making of the tea services came out.
