(581--960)

Bringing down the preceding and ushering in the future, the ceramics of the Sui Dynasty entered into the Tang Dynasty, when a situation in which ceramic industry was vigorously developed took shape. At that time, famous kilns were extensively distributed in the North and South of the country, with their product modellings fantastic and changing in a thousand and one ways, their decoration rich and colourful. The development of economic and cultural exchanges between China and the outside world made ceramics become even more an envoy for friendly intercourse.

Ceramics of the Five Dynasty attached much importance to artistry, which laid a solid foundation for the emergence of the peak in the production of ceramics in the Coming Song Dynasty.
