Ceramics of the Three Kingdoms, the Western and the Eastern Jin,the Southern and the Northern Dynasty
(220--589)

The three kingdoms, the Western and Eastern Jin,the Southern and the Northern Dynasty covered three hundred and sixty years or so,when ceramic industry had developed rapidly. By then,porcelain-making techniques in South China had been evidently enhanced, and ceramics-making area and scale increasingly expanded, with kiln sites spread in Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Fujian,Jiangxi,Hunan,Hubei, Sichuan Province, etc.

Excavation of white porcelain objects from a noble tomb named Fan Cui in the city of Anyang,Henan Province,of the northern Dynasty(380--581)shows that white porcelain was already put into production in the Northern Qi Dynasty(550--577),and its emergence paved the way for further development of this particular porcelain in the coming Sui and Tang Dynasties.
